New vocabulary

You know those people that seem oblivious to their surroundings when walking around? The ones that tend to be most often messing with their phones, or sometimes lost in a book? The ones who will usually walk in the middle of a sidewalk or corridor, sometimes swaying from side to side, usually walking too slowly for the crowd?

I propose a new word to call these people: ZOMOBI. A contraction of “zombie” and “mobile”, zomobi describes how they’re most often brainlessly moving ahead, often with a mobile device in their hands. As a bonus point, it works in both the languages I use the most: English and French.

So, when you’re out and about, don’t be a zomobi: pay attention to what’s going on around you!

The new Star Trek series in Canada…

Oh, boo.

They just announced how the new Star Trek series will be distributed all over the world.

In the USA, as announced before, the first episode will be shown on TV while the others will be on CBS’ All-Access streaming service.

For the rest of the world, in 188 countries, that’ll be on Netflix…

… except in Canada.

“The Bell Media rollout for the new Star Trek series in Canada will mirror the launch in the United States. The first episode will premiere on Canada’s most-watched broadcast network, CTV, on the same night as CBS. All remaining episodes will initially be televised on Bell Media’s cable networks, Space (in English) and Z (in French), and then later exclusively on CraveTV, Bell Media’s streaming video-on-demand service.”

I ditched cable some time back, so neither Space or Z are options. The episodes will be available on the online CraveTV platform, but “later”…. whenever THAT will be. I don’t have CraveTV, I could subscribe to see the series, but the “later” worries me. Basically, I get the worst deal in the WORLD for the new series.

Yes, I’m annoyed.

The weird thing is, as mentioned before, the French dub will be on Z… except that Z ditched its sci-fi programming a few years back, which was one of my reasons for ditching cable in the first place. Boo!
